Overview
The Ramp integration connects your organization's Ramp corporate card account to License Logic, enabling automatic synchronization of transaction data. This gives your IT and finance teams a unified view of software spend alongside your existing contract and license data.
Key Benefits
- Automated spend tracking — Transaction data syncs daily with no manual exports or uploads required
- Vendor-level visibility — See exactly how much you're spending with each software vendor across all cardholders
- Department breakdowns — Understand spend by team and department to identify optimization opportunities
- Contract correlation — Compare actual card spend against contracted rates to catch billing discrepancies
- Shadow IT detection — Identify software purchases made outside of approved procurement channels
Prerequisites
Before you begin, make sure you have both a License Logic account and a Ramp account with the correct permissions.
License Logic Requirements
- Account: Active License Logic subscription
- Role: Admin or Manager role (viewers cannot manage integrations)
- Page: Access to Settings → Integrations
Ramp Requirements
- Account: Active Ramp business account
- Role: Admin role on your Ramp account (required to authorize third-party integrations)
- Permissions: Ability to approve OAuth application access
Note for multi-entity Ramp accounts: If your organization has multiple entities in Ramp, you will be asked to select which entity to connect during the authorization step. Only one entity can be connected at a time.
Setup Guide
Connecting Ramp to License Logic takes about 2 minutes. Follow these steps:
Step 1: Navigate to Integrations
In License Logic, go to Settings → Integrations from the left sidebar. You'll see available integrations including Microsoft Entra ID, Ramp, and NetSuite.
Step 2: Click "Connect" on the Ramp Card
Find the Ramp integration card and click the Connect button. License Logic will redirect you to Ramp's authorization page.
Step 3: Log in to Ramp (if needed)
If you're not already logged in to Ramp, you'll be prompted to enter your Ramp credentials. Make sure you log in with an account that has Admin access.
Step 4: Select Your Entity
If your Ramp account has multiple entities, select the one you want to connect to License Logic from the Entity dropdown on the consent screen.
Step 5: Authorize License Logic
Review the permissions License Logic is requesting, then click Allow to authorize the connection.
License Logic requests read-only access to: view your transactions, bills, departments, configured accounting fields, memos, merchants, receipts, and reimbursements. License Logic never writes to or modifies your Ramp data.
Step 6: Connection Complete
After clicking Allow, you'll see a success confirmation page and be automatically redirected back to License Logic. Your initial transaction sync will begin immediately in the background.
The Ramp integration card will now show Connected along with the date of connection and last sync.
What Data Is Synced
License Logic syncs the following data from your Ramp account:
- Transaction amount — The dollar amount of each card transaction
- Merchant name — The vendor or merchant where the transaction occurred
- Category — Ramp's auto-categorization of the transaction
- Cardholder name — The employee who made the transaction
- Department — The department of the cardholder (if configured in Ramp)
- Transaction date — When the transaction occurred
- Transaction state — Status of the transaction in Ramp (e.g., CLEARED)
- Memo — Any notes or memos attached to the transaction
Data access is read-only. License Logic does not create, modify, or delete any data in your Ramp account. We only read transaction information for spend analysis and reporting.
Viewing Your Spend Data
Once connected, your Ramp transaction data appears in several places within License Logic.
Insights → Spend Tab
The primary destination for Ramp data. The Spend tab shows:
- Total spend — Aggregated spend across all transactions for the selected period
- Spend by vendor — Breakdown of spend per merchant/vendor, sorted by amount
- Spend by department — How much each team is spending on software and services
- Spend over time — Monthly or weekly trend charts showing spend patterns
- Top transactions — Largest individual transactions for quick identification of major purchases
Filtering & Date Ranges
Use the period filter at the top of the Spend tab to view data for specific time ranges:
- Last 30 days, 90 days, 6 months, or 12 months
- Custom date range for specific reporting periods
- Year-to-date or quarter-to-date views
Sync Schedule & Refresh
Automatic Daily Sync
License Logic automatically syncs your Ramp transaction data once per day. New transactions, updated amounts, and status changes are pulled during each sync.
Initial Sync
When you first connect Ramp, License Logic performs a full historical sync of all available transactions. Depending on your transaction volume, this typically completes within a few seconds to a few minutes.
What Triggers a Sync
- Initial connection — Immediately after clicking "Allow" on Ramp's consent page
- Daily scheduled sync — Runs automatically every 24 hours
- Reconnection — If you disconnect and reconnect, a full sync runs again
Tip: You can see when the most recent sync occurred on the Ramp integration card under Settings → Integrations.
Disconnecting Ramp
Warning: This action cannot be undone. Disconnecting Ramp will permanently delete all synced transaction and spend data from License Logic. This data cannot be recovered. You can reconnect at any time to re-sync.
To disconnect:
- Go to Settings → Integrations
- Find the Ramp integration card (showing "Connected")
- Click the menu icon (…) on the card
- Select Disconnect
- Confirm the disconnection in the dialog
After disconnecting:
- All synced Ramp transactions are permanently removed from License Logic
- The Spend tab will no longer show Ramp data
- License Logic's access token for your Ramp account is revoked
- You can reconnect at any time by clicking "Connect" again
Security & Data Handling
Authentication
The integration uses OAuth 2.0 Authorization Code Flow, the industry standard for secure third-party authorization. License Logic never sees or stores your Ramp username or password. You authorize access directly on Ramp's website, and Ramp issues a secure token to License Logic.
Data in Transit
All communication between License Logic and Ramp's API uses TLS 1.2+ encryption. Data is never transmitted in plaintext.
Data at Rest
- OAuth tokens — Stored in AWS RDS (PostgreSQL), encrypted with AES-256-GCM using per-token random IVs
- Transaction data — Stored in AWS RDS (PostgreSQL), encrypted at rest via AWS RDS encryption
Access Control
- Only Admin and Manager users can connect or disconnect the Ramp integration
- Viewer users can see spend data but cannot modify integration settings
- All API endpoints are authenticated via Clerk session management
- OAuth state tokens are cryptographically signed (HMAC-SHA256) to prevent CSRF attacks
Permissions Requested
License Logic requests the following read-only scopes from your Ramp account:
- transactions:read — Sync card transaction amounts, merchants, and dates
- bills:read — View bill payment data for complete spend picture
- departments:read — Map transactions to departments for spend breakdowns
- accounting:read — Access configured accounting categories
- memos:read — Include transaction notes and memos in sync
- merchants:read — Identify vendors and map to known software providers
- receipts:read — Access receipt data attached to transactions
- reimbursements:read — Include employee reimbursements in spend tracking
No write access. License Logic cannot create, modify, or delete any data in your Ramp account. All scopes are read-only.
Data Retention
Transaction data is retained in License Logic for as long as your integration is active. If you disconnect Ramp, all synced data is permanently and immediately deleted. License Logic does not retain copies of your Ramp data after disconnection.

Troubleshooting
"Business not authorized to use this application"
This error appears on Ramp's authorization page. It means your Ramp account's settings may restrict third-party integrations. Contact your Ramp account admin to verify that third-party OAuth applications are permitted under your organization's policy settings in Company → Policy.
"Unavailable scope was requested"
This indicates a configuration mismatch. Please contact License Logic support at support@licenselogic.co and we will resolve it immediately.
Ramp card shows "Connected" but no data appears
- The initial sync may still be in progress. Wait a few minutes and refresh the page.
- Check the Last Synced timestamp on the integration card. If it shows a recent time, the sync completed successfully.
- Navigate to Insights → Spend to view your transaction data.
- If you have a new Ramp account with no transactions, the Spend tab will be empty until transactions are processed.
Connect button is disabled or missing
The Connect and Disconnect buttons are only available to users with Admin or Manager roles in License Logic. If you have a Viewer role, ask your organization's admin to connect the integration.
Connection expired or sync stopped working
Ramp access tokens expire periodically and are automatically refreshed by License Logic. In rare cases, the refresh may fail. To resolve:
- Go to Settings → Integrations
- Disconnect the Ramp integration
- Reconnect by clicking "Connect" and re-authorizing
Your transaction history will be re-synced automatically after reconnecting.
Wrong Ramp entity connected
If you connected the wrong Ramp entity (for multi-entity accounts):
- Disconnect the current integration
- Reconnect and select the correct entity from the dropdown on Ramp's consent screen
Frequently Asked Questions
Does License Logic modify any data in my Ramp account?
No. License Logic has read-only access. We never create, edit, or delete transactions, bills, merchants, or any other data in your Ramp account.
How often does data sync?
Transaction data syncs automatically once per day. The initial sync happens immediately when you first connect.
Can I connect multiple Ramp entities?
Currently, License Logic supports one Ramp entity per organization. If you need to track spend across multiple entities, please contact support to discuss your needs.
What happens to my data if I disconnect?
All synced Ramp transaction data is permanently and immediately deleted from License Logic. No copies are retained. You can reconnect at any time to re-sync your data.
Do I need to keep my browser open for the sync to work?
No. Syncing happens on License Logic's servers in the background. Once you authorize the connection, syncing is fully automated and does not require your browser to be open.
Who at my company can see Ramp spend data?
All authenticated License Logic users in your organization (Admin, Manager, and Viewer roles) can view spend data on the Insights → Spend tab. Only Admins and Managers can manage the integration connection itself.
Is my Ramp login shared with License Logic?
No. License Logic uses OAuth 2.0, which means you authorize access directly on Ramp's website. License Logic never sees your Ramp username or password.
Can I revoke License Logic's access from Ramp's side?
Yes. You can revoke access at any time from your Ramp account under Company → Integrations. This will stop all data syncing. You should also disconnect from the License Logic side to clean up synced data.
